Works well for the price
The advertised range seems about right for direct line of sight. I use this keyboard on the second floor and the computer is one floor below, about 10-15 feet away. It's not as good as the more expensive Gyration keyboard, but it works well as a remote control for my entertainment PC.

Great keyboard, small annoyances notwithstanding.
Great keyboard for web browsing, e-mail, and light typing. Excellent range, rugged, good button placement.
I bought this keyboard because my computer is inside a cabinet in my family room and I can't afford to keep the door open all the time to use an IR keyboard. I have used the keyboard for three weeks now and it has performed better than I expected. The trackball is surprisingly easy to use, once I got the sensitivity setting right.
Numeric keypad mode is sometimes active after the keyboard goes to sleep, but not always, and there's no LED feedback to show numpad is active. Not a problem unless the computer has gone to screensaver, then there's no way to know until my password is rejected.
I found it won't do CTRL-Arrow combinations--don't know whether that's by design or a sample defect. Not a common key combo, but I have an app that uses it a lot so I have to workaround (or use the other computer).
Hotkeys are not mappable in Windows XP Pro. I have tried several remap utilities without success. Maybe a different story in Vista...
Bottom line: the nuisances are minor--I can still recommend this keyboard overall.

Great for Home Theatre Computer
I have this hooked up to an HP SlimLine, and it works great from across the room. Other reviews I have read mention that you can sometimes block the transmitter when sitting in certain positions with your feet up. This does seem to happen at times, but other than that, it works great.
The keyboard wakes up easily with a key press. I usually use one of the multimedia keys.
I have had the keyboard for about a month, and I am still using the batteries that came with it.
The trackball works great, and it and the mouse buttons on both sides of the keyboard and the scroll wheel on the left side make browsing easy.
I don't use it for any heavy typing, so I can't say how it would be for that, but I'd definitely buy another one for this kind of use.
